A lot of artist that start out wants to jump straight to the top. In the real world this is not impossible but unlikely. You may see an artist pop off of one song overnight but we are here to tell you this is not true. Every release is powered by a team, a plan, and MONEY
Some artist get into the game and expect to be paid from the start. The truth is you have to pay to play. Let’s put it in perspective, How do you expect a venue to pay you to perform if you’re not selling tickets? Bringing 5 people will not get you paid. So yes, paying to perform is ideal for an artist that’s just starting. The key is to grow your fan base to the point you are at the negotiating table discussing your compensation for performing . Followers, fans, and music all plays a part in this. Having a strong following is great but are these followers supporting you in person as well as online ? Once you master that the money will come.
Once you’re at the point of selling a massive amount of tickets, it’s time to ditch the open mics and pay to perform venues and start your own concerts, shows and events. This is where artist will see a massive amount of funds to support their music career. What happens from there is up to the artist. The key is to build on this momentum, drop fire music and stay active !
In a nutshell .. you have to pay for your career, most artist spend more than they will make, this is the cycle of the music industry.
